Radiation correction and uncertainty evaluation of RS41 temperature sensors by using an upper-air simulator

Abstract. An upper-air simulator (UAS) has been developed at the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) to study effects solar irradiation commercial radiosondes. In this study, uncertainty in radiation correction a Vaisala RS41 temperature sensor is evaluated using UAS KRISS. First, environmental parameters including (T), pressure (P), ventilation speed (v), irradiance (S) are formulated context correction. The considered ranges T, P, v −67 20 ∘C, 5–500 hPa, 4–7 m s−1, respectively, with fixed S0=980 W m−2.
